THE MYTH
Odysseus and his companions were taken prisoners by the cyclops Polyphemous, son of Poseidon, in a cave on his island. To escape, Odysseus contrived to make Polyphemous drunk with wine. Having put him in a stupor he and his shipmates smote the single eye of the cyclops with a timber.

THE MATH

Werner Heisenberg (1901-1976)
Heisenberg elucidated the uncertainty principles of quantum mechanics and, along with Schrodninger, Planck and Dirac, slew the single vision of Newtonian classical physics.
